So ive been in the market for a road bike to ride when i cant get out to the trails....ended up finding an 09 model bike for a lot cheaper then a 2010 model so i figured id use the price difference to put some new wheels on my trance x3. Everyone says wheels are gonna be the most noticeable improvement on a bike...i was thinking about getting an adjustable fork but many people have talked me out of it...and i agree...
since im putting it all on a retail credit card through the shop im gonna be picking up a new set of wheels too. the guys at the shop are avid riders and have always gave me good information on products so i trust there opinions on different products...
i am looking at the mavic crossmax st disc ( http://www.mavic.com/mtb/products/crossmax-st-disc.105352.1.aspx )
and the easton haven disc ( http://www.eastonbike.com/PRODUCTS/WHEELS/10/wheel_haven_'10.html )
Can anyone give me some input on either of these wheelsets? The mavics are slightly lighter and less expensive. I currently have the WTB Laserdisc Trail on my bike now...i have been riding them fairly hard for over a year now and they still are holding up strong but im really looking to shave a little bit of weight from the bike.
Im 6'1 and about 200 lbs. Im primarily using the bike for xc/trail riding which involves a lot of climbing, intermediate downhill sections, occasional 1-3ft drops, and everything else in between.
