Finally have my Trance X built the way I want it.

Changes made that stiffened up the bike for a Clydesdale/Trail Demon.

Tires: 2.35 Nevegal Up front and 2.1 Nevegal DTC with sidewall protection (SWS) rear.
Wheels: Crossmax XL Wheelset
Seat: Rocket V
Brakes: 7" rotors front and rear
Handle Bars: 2008 Race Face Atlas with Ergon grips
Cassette: SRAM PG-990
Pedals: Time Atac XS

Weight: 28.5" lbs.

Trance X1. It weighs whatever it weighs...

It's got an SDG Bel Air saddle now, but the rest is stock.

For you guys that already have a Trance X...is a 2.35 the largest tire you can put on the rear. I'm looking at making one clydesdale safe...yet lighter than 32lbs.

I've built up several at the shop I work at, in and around 28 to 30lbs. I used a regular drop-out fork on one of these, an XL, and another shop custom build with a 55ATA and all XT with the FR wheelset but used Nevegal tubeless (in a medium frameset, it weighed in at 28.5lbs). The bike close to 30lbs., was an XL with Fox 32 float, mostly XT, with Stylo crankset, and Mavic 717/XT hubset with 2.1 Nevegals (regular not tubeless).

So with say a set of Dee Traks wheels...could I run a 2.35 in the back? I haven't tried it out yet. I'm planning on getting the Trance X2 (I like the black frame) and using either a 55TST-R, or Fox 36 Vanilla R. I'm probably going to run a 2.5 in the front. Hard to break FR habits...LOL Thanks in advance!

floorguy724, can you measure the BB height of your bike? I am interested to know what the BB height is with a Pike at 140mm.

Thanks.

all of them look much better than on giant's web-site or in the catalogue :)
Stoner's Trance is my favorite, so far :)
My T X 0 size S will come in middle Feb. I will rebuild it a bit, but it will be a surprise ;)

With the Pike the bb comes in at 13". It was right around 14" with the Fox 36 Van on it.

I have a 2.35 Nevegal on the back of my Trance X2 and it fits fine. About an 1/8" clearance on each side.

Senor Frango,

Thank you very much for the kind words. Been riding a Trance and Reign since 2005 and this bike set-up is the result of what works best for this bike. I liked the Fox but I don't like Air shocks up front, a good smooth dialed in coil fork can never be beat! The Fox seemed to light to track well for me when hitting high speed rocky turns and rock gardens (I ride steep Los Angeles mountains).

I almost put my Atlas cranks on but decided to give the Dues a shot. This set-up is the stiffest trail bike you ever ride and it tracks like it was glued to ground.

Trance X... If you don't have one... get one!
