We'll be in Waltham for a week in January for some work. We won't have bikes with us so we'll be trail running instead. Are there any decent trails in or close to Waltham for a quick dirt 10k? I did a search but mostly found info for Prospect Hill...

Not far from Waltham is a parcel of conservation land in Belmont. It has some trails, but they are not marked and are not easy to follow especially in winter. Some careful planning would be required to get a 10k run in and it would involve a lot of looping around and repeating sections.

There is also a trail that runs around the Charles river. You can pick it up near the Waltham/Watertown border. It won't be all dirt, you'll have to hit a lot of paved paths and cross streets, but you can easily find your way around for a long run.
