hello, I’m doing a long distance trip and have a bike trailer to haul some kit and the dog, when he is tired.

The trailer bracket normally threads into a QR axle and clamps down on the stays. My bike (spesh camber 29r) runs 142+ 12mm axles and there isn’t enough length to slip the fitting for the trailer onto it.

My question is - would it be simple enough to buy a slightly longer 12mm axle (say 160mm or thereabouts) and pack out with spacers to allow it to clamp down properly? Or is that a terrible idea.

Thanks!
