Trail conditions

OK, for my own sanity I need to ride trails this weekend.

Is anything within an hours drive of DC/Baltimore rideable? I'm gonna check Patapsco on my way home tonight, and another thread said Rosaryville is fine. Any truth to this? Should be a gorgeous weekend, no precipitation due until late Monday.

I know how you feel. I have a friend who got a brand new rig and was itching to go. He went to Rosaryville said it was good but the temps were below freezing. I think if you go south it should be better than Baltimore. Southern Maryland didn't get that 10 inches of snow you guys got. It was all rain with a little mix so trails should be in better shape.

Let us know what you find so I can email my buddy with the new bike. Good luck! I hope you don't go all the way down there for slop.
90% of Patapsco is pretty much a swamp
The trails were WAY better than I could have imagined. The high winds have done a good job of drying everything out. I rode the HoCo side this afternoon. Most of the trails are very dry. Ridge had some thick spots because it doesn't get that much sun. I had to walk where Renegade approaches the road. Down low by the river back around the Belmont had some mud too. Did 8.5 miles and my bike is reasonably clean. The rivers are deep.

Can't speak for the Baltimore side of the park, but yesterday I was on the road and the trails up by Buzzards rock were soup.

I'll be out tomorrow too........ Ride on!
I'm out in Frederick County and rode for the first time today since before Christmas. Even though we haven't gotten a ton of snow this year most what we have gotten had stayed on the trails the last two months due to the frigid temps. Anyway, it was nice to get out. About 95% was dry. As posted above the wind has helped in drying things out.
Laurel Hill (in Lorton VA) was in great shape today.
Just got back from Patapsco. Baltimore county side is pretty much fine, the Howard County side, especially ridge is a mess. Ridge is solid soup, bikes are just killing it today too, I passed about 30 riders at least. If I would have known HoCo side was that bad, I would've passed. Stay on the Balt. side.
Both sides were in bad shape this morning. Wait it out.
My bad! Lack of wind today left the trails muddy. With rain tomorrow and Friday, it looks like it will be a while before the trails will be dry.

Back to the road.....

I don't know your definition of fine, but Baltimore county side was not fine yesterday. It was a mess. I bailed and did some hill repeats on the park roads.
the trail conditions are still pretty darn awesome in canaan. especially the higher up ones. I took some video of some recent riding so you can see for youself! :)

I'm going to Snowshoe with a bunch of friends this weekend. Do you think that snow you were telemarking in will be down further in Snowshoe?

Nice video. After checking Snowshoe's lift ticket prices on line, I'm looking for a different WVA resort to go to. Whitegrass looks great for skinning up and teleing down. Think I'll peep it out next year. How's Canaan Valley Ski area for snowboarding?

I did Soapstone and Vineyard, and they were 90% fine. It was about 9am though, they may have softened up as the sun warmed them.
