I was told by a rider I met on the trail that Intense has a trade in program if you want to "trade-in" your Tracer you can get a 5.5 at a discounted rate (~$1,200). I'm not planning on giving up my Tracer anytime soon but I was extremely intrigued and some other posts in this forum alluded that there was such a program at some point. I just purchased my Tracer (New-Old-Stock) in June and I wonder if this program is still active since the 5.5 has been out for a few years and if so, is there an "end date" on the horizon? Is it limited to the 5.5 or can it also apply to the Spyder? I seriously doubt it would apply to a 6.6 (which is too much bike for me anyway ;) )

Just curious.

Still devoted to the Tracer!

I was just intrigued because this is the first time I heard of a program like this. The Tracer with either the PUSH'ed Float or the Propedal'ed Vanilla really is all the bike I need and in reality I just need to get the issues of MBA out of my bathroom as they like to stress over and over that anything with less that 5 inches or rear travel is just worthless... Sorry but if I'm gonna spend a few thousand bucks to add an inch to anything I guarantee it won't be to the rear travel of my mountain bike!

How does your wife like the Tracer? Did you get the shock PUSH'ed?

You don't have to spend $1200 for an extra inch of travel. I ordered an Uzzi link from them about a month ago and my Tracer has never been better. I set it up with a Fox Float RLC 130 and a Pushed Float R and it rides so smooth. Intense always had a crash replacement policy in effect since I bought my Tracer in '02. They are low in warranty parts for the Uzzi SL and Tracer and are trying get riders to trade in their bikes for either a 5.5 or Spider.

LOL you made me laugh with the bit about adding an inch for $1000!

She loves the Tracer, but it's got some crappy Sid shock on it which needs binning for an RP3, I've just sold the AM SL's on eBay and ordered her a pair of Reba Teams, to get the front end down a little, should be good! :)

I called...

I checked on the 5.5 frame price. They are also offering the Spider on this program, but I didn't check the price. The 5.5 is $1248 for the standard colors. The optional colors are a $50 dollar upgrade. No ball burnished. It almost sounded like BB frames were a thing of the past? They ship you the frame after they get yours.

Thanks!

It sounds like it is in line with the crash replacement program (which is what I expected). I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't walking away from a ridiculous deal like swap the frame and for $500 you get a new 5.5- but only until the end of 2005 kind of thing. I'm really, really happy with the Tracer and if it ever experiences a frame failure I guess the 5.5 would probably be an option but for now I'm staying put.
