NOVATO, CA (BRAIN)-Mark Weir's Marin County home-that he shares with his wife, Sue, and son, Gus-burnt down Sunday evening, as a fire broke out in the garage and spread throughout their home.

The family got out safely after being alerted by the fire alarm system.

Jason Moeschler, who works with Weir at WTB, pulled up on the scene Sunday evening as the street was closed by fire trucks. Moeschler said that Weir's garage contained "one of the most magnificent collections of high end bikes ever assembled, not to mention the lifetime collection of tools and cycling memorabilia.

"It claimed everything in the garage," Moeschler added.

The house is uninhabitable, but thankfully no one was injured, Moeschler said.

That's horrible!
Makes me sad...

though glad no one was injured but still... I've met him a couple of times and he is a real nice person.
Oh this is sickening. He is a good friend of mine and a great suporter/sponsor of mtbr for the last decade.

His bike collection and rc car arsenal is just insane as that guy just has a passion for everything he does. Damn.

Wow that is a crazy bummer.

I really hope he had things insured.

It really is a motivator to get good renters insurance and make an itemized list of everything..
It Will Come Back To Him...

Mark Weir is such a great guy & awesome ambassador of the sport that, in some way or another, he'll come out even better. He has such good karma; this was just a fluke accident.

We're all with you in our thoughts & prayers Mark!
Hard to get happy after that

My mom was burnt out of her home. Weird and devastating. I'm glad the family is safe. We're thinking about you and your family Mark.
Hope it wasn't because he was charging his Magicshine. :eekster:
