Allow me to introduce my new ride to all.
2010 Pivot Mach 429 XL
I stripped down my Salsa to make a new ride. Most XT parts with some Magura brakes and some Ritchey parts like a stem and post. Same old seat but boy does it feel different. This bike feels big and strong. Going out tonight to demo her on the SoMo trails. Do I hit Natty or test her out on DC.

Very very nice!!! Looks ready for DC. Get a gravity dropper and maybe a shorter stem you'll be set for National. Congrats on the new frame!
Sweet ride Dave. Now you are riding with the big dogs! I got my ride stoke going too... not a total new bike but some nice wheels. I'm faster already!
Chalkpaw yes finally a real rear suspension bike. I'm ready for that trail on the N side of Humpheres again. I think it was the AZ trail you showed us last July.

KK the stem is 100 which is down from 120. Still shorter?
hooray!
New bike demands going straight for the good stuff. National all the way! you will love how it climbs and decends the tech.

Congrats! Many Many outstanding rides in the two of your futures!
A shorter stem and a GD will make that into an all mtn machine. I had a long stem like that on my Sultan when I first got it and after I put a 70mm stem. Makes for better technical riding, and it will still climb like a billy goat.

That stem sure looks longer than a 100! I'd try a 70 if you can borrow one just to see what it's like. I think you will like it.

XL
We might need to go riding together sometime, I've been curious to know how the 429 rides. I have a Specialized Marathon 29er Hardtail I was thinking about swapping the frame out on. How much travel does your fork have?

I was looking at the Pivot 429 and the Niner Rip 9. It seems like a 120mm 29er would be ideal out here.
primo Dave double slick!! yeah be sure to tell us all the dirt on that beast. my son is looking at getting that very bike soon. shocks, pegs, LUCKY! :D
Nice Dave!
Will we see the new rig at the Quad this month?
Nice! I look forward to seeing this out on the trail.
Dave - she will look sweet on top of your new Forester! Bring her up to P-town for a ride sometime.
