Up at 4:30 to start riding. can't beat the time-effort ratio of this ride: out my door, ~70 miles, 5k climbing in 4 hrs. Havent done it in a year and it kicked my butt. I got a big lift when the Brumby club picked me up around mile 8 in the flats and I drafted til about mile 20 . I haven't ridden in a big pack in almost 2 years, and kinda forgot how easy and fast you go.

My daughter killed my camera last night, so these are the best photos I got:

My my...you've lost weight.

My favorite photo is your body surfing one -- I don't think I've ever seen that except at a rock concert. Cool stuff.

Tortilla Flat rocks...it's my favorite ride in the valley. That road still scares the crap out of me when it's boating season though because us cyclists are sitting ducks. I ought to know...I own a boat and have made some judgment errors towing it (such as dropping a wheel off the pavement) and can easly see how I could accidentally run somebody over and never know it. The damn thing is wider than my truck.

And this is when I'm driving sober. Sad to know that a small percentage of the boaters aren't.

Thx...Doug

the trip out was fine, for about 10 miles on the trip back from the lake to when you come out of the mountains there was a lot of traffic. It was all going the other way, and most people seemed very chill about staying in their lines. I didn't rip any s-curves i couldn't manage by staying to the far right of my lane, but other than a little planning and common sense i felt just fine.
