Torso protection suggestions

So I am semi-laid-up again with bruised ribs and I am thinking about chest protection for my days at the bike parks. Up to now, I have been OK with my elbow/forearm and knee/shin guards and a skate style helmet. The full-face has been ordered, so I'll have that covered in a few days.

So now I am wondering about torso protection. I'd like to go lightweight, like just a roost-deflector style, but on the other hand, I wonder if it is worth it. Ideally, I'd like something that protects my ribs from the front and sides and some kidney padding. Price is a big concern.

I was looking at the 661 Defender Lite, which has a good price and good front protection, along with the shoulders, but I am wondering if it is enough for me. I am an intermediate rider and I try to stay within my limits-nothing too ridiculous.

Thanks for any thoughts.
