Yeah, it was a nice 79 degrees at the start of my ride yesterday up at Snow Park on the Bristlecone loop (cooler by time I finished at 6:30). It was cool to see the thermometer in my car drop as I climbed to the trailhead.

The ride this early a.m. (5:45) at Bootleg was was a little warmer, but not bad at 87 degrees with a nice breeze from the west. Up at the Lake Mead overlook I'll bet it was "only" 82. :D

Went up to bristlecone this morning

I guess i'll be riding there the rest of the summer. Only thing i don't like is i live in henderson(by sunset station). It took me just over an hour to get to the trailhead. Is there any other trails around mt. charleston that allow bikes?

Well, besides the bristlecone loop which a little over 6 miles, you can also do the downhill trail which starts at the top of the connecting road between the two canyons. That is more of a shuttle and I havent actually done it yet but I hear its the bomb.

Ive tried the Elvis Presta network and that pretty much sucks. Ive heard that there are trails out there that a few know of that are pretty nice but so far mums the word:(

Do you have more specific directions for this downhill trail? Sounds fun.

I repeat the single track section on Bristlecone to extend it a bit. (Up the dirt road, down the single track, back up the single track, then down the single track again) That adds another 2.5-3 miles I'd guess.

I agree about Elvis Presta from what I've ridden of it.

If you find out any info on some other secret rides up there from other locals let me know.

I should get up there this week for a look around. From what Ive seen on the news the down hill starting point is pretty close to where the fire was. I'll check it out this week and get back to you,
