put the A/C on for the first time of the year. I hated to do it. This is the first year we've run our swamp cooler, and it worked like a dream. Unfortunatley, the last couple of days, house has been really muggy, so I assumed the window has closed?

And NO, I'm not complaining about the heat. I LOVE 109 degree temps.

yeah, I flicked mine on this past Friday. cheap May and June this year.
AC turned on officially Tuesday.

AC turned on unofficially early Sunday morning by 12 yr old daughter.......while the evap was still on and damper to AH still in place.......causing cooling coils to completely ice up helping said damper block the evap flow to the AH.:madman:
I just want to chime in and say you guys are absolutely nuts. My AC has been on for months, and I still can't sleep at night. This whole desert living thing is just something that's going to take a little longer to get used to.
Hey Skinny my Stinky will be down here in a few days, we'll haveta get some wheelies in.

Then why use the A/C?

Huh? Wha? Are you getting a big bike? Let's you and I bike UP Six Shooter then :).

I've probably ridden my Coiler 3 of 4 times since my injury--although some jackass did convince me to do Windgate/Bell Pass double bypass on Father's Day on it; NOT FUN going up, but a BLAST going down. Been riding the SS mostly.
are you the same dude that started the same posts the last couple of years? I think I can remember 2 or 3 of these.
Congrats!
Yeah...AC went on Saturday morning. Dang it! I LOOOVE swamp cooling. Can't wait for the window to re-open, maybe Septemberish?

Just straighten you out. They have been using their swamp coolers (evap coolers). So, they have had cooling. Swamp coolers just don't work when its humid, so they have to turn on the freon type coolers (AC).
A/C been on since May and I love the heat. Figure might as well enjoy the A/C now as I doubt I'll have any in my after life.

Thats exactly what I was thinking:p Man, these guys must be really nuts or I must have unusually thick blood.....but how the h3ll do they sleep at night?! I've had my AC turned on for a couple of months or more already.

Then, I read MBB's thread, ahaaa! Did a little reading on swamp coolers and now I'm enlightened......thats what those AC looking boxes on the roofs are, swamp coolers!

And here I was thinking all this time that it was such an unorthodox location to place an AC unit:lol:

A have a couple of questions about the SC's though. Is the air cooler but more humid? Also, do you keep the windows open so the cooled air can easily come into the house and allow some of the old air out? The part about having a constant circulation of fresh air sounds great compared to the usual air conditioning.

So correct me if I'm wrong but you get cooler fresh air 'and' it's cheaper? Sweet!

Thanks MBB!:D
