To many Mavic 729s

I had a great deal on a bunch of mavic 729 rims so I bought 10. I have been buying hubs on ebay and building up wheels. I now have five complete wheel sets and three extra rear wheels. I am good for the next 10 years. I have bro with over five sets of extra brakes. Any one else purchased extra stuff because it was a great deal?

Uhh whoa.

I stockpile tires, but I've never heard of stockpiling wheels......
you want to loan me some cash or parts.
I stockpile chain rings.

No need for more than one dedicated wheelset and one extra rear wheel for DH.
you realise those are going to be vintage by the time you use them up?
He is not going to use them up. MTBR charity thread coming up to aid those in need, the poor sould who have been affected by the financial crisis, anyone need some wheelz? No parentaly sponsored kids to apply.
I got 2 extra tires because they were 35a rubber and $20, but 10 rims? Build them up and sell 'em for a profit if possible.

You know Obama is going to make you give me a set, right?
The stuff I buy for backup seems to get pressed into service shortly after I buy it. It's like my old parts know the new ones are waiting in the wings, so they go ahead and break just to bring on the inevitable.

I'm about to buy a 729 pre-built wheelset though. Then I'm going to build my old hubs onto some trail rims for lighter duty. Got any 819's lying around? ;)
Tires, rear wheels, pedals (I keep them identical between my two bikes so I can make a swap, same with brakes).

What I should stockpile a spare of is cranks and a rear shock. Chains/derailleurs too.
I can't bring myself to throw anything out or pass up a good deal. I have a nice pile of stuff that comes in handy occasionally and takes up a lot of space all the time.
I recently stocked up on some bits because they were a good deal. Mostly drivetrain stuff, I know I will wear out.

I currently have:

6 new 9speed chains ($10 each)
2 SLX cassettes
2 Shimano chainrings
Bunch of tubes

as well as a few other new, unused items.

If you know you will use the stuff, stockpiling makes sense.
holy crap, ok i can understand having a spare wheelset, but having 9 of them??
i really dont think you will need 10 sets of wheels.
Maybe you should sell the some sets off at a profit if they were so cheap

Wurd, I got something like 25-30 tires under my deck right now. A good chunk of them are michi comp 24's
Pm me if you want to sell a set of quick release hubs laced to 729's....

 Classic...
Shoes??

No pirate boy I actually need shoes. Glad to see your up to hitting the key board again.

What happened is I bought the rims for a crazy cheap price. I was going to sell some but ran into a a ebay special and a few great trades(right time right price). Next thing I know I had a eight rear hubs 3 Hadley, 3 DT 440 and 2 saint rear hubs. I go through about a set of rims a year and figure to trade some wheels for stuff in the future. Just to be clear 5 complete wheelsets and three rear wheels.
geez, man, just wait for the Apocalypse and every DHer in the country will pay good money (or good tequila) for them. better than gold, as far as I'm concerned.

so, um, got a 729/hadley 135 combo for sale?
