I was corrected recently...

Thule is pronounced "Too-lee". Is that correct?

How about Saris. Is it like the word "are" or "air"? S-"air"-is or S-"are"-is?

Thule is swedish so I guess is their fault too...

Anyway, the Too-lee guy said it that way at REI, so I'm assuming that's how you say it.

too-lee is correct. the guys at my LBS say it that way so it has to be correct

It's not, actually. In Sweden, the folks pronounce it "TOO'oo-LUH," with the ' break similar to the one in Hawai'i.

But in the US, I've never heard anything but "Too-lee." It's like "karaoke." Everyone looks at me like I'm an idiot when I pronounce it the Japanese way. I think it is probably more important to know the bastardized English version than the "real" one.

I mean, the last time I went to a bike shop the shop owner said "Muh-GRRR-uh" for Magura, and "FYOO-gee" for Fuji. As long as you have cash in your wallet, it hardly matters I think.
