Here's the cranked up FTM with new kit 2 bonus package.

Gives you the new Cranks Brother Cobalt wheels with 15mm QR front hub, Eggbeater SL pedals, blue ODI lockons, hanger, chainring bolts, and seat clamp as a bonus.

http://www.crankbrothers.com/wheel_tech.php for details on the Cobalts.

I think it will look good on the white and orange FTM.

X version photos coming.

Looks nice, but I have to wonder how many people will be drawn in by this, considering Crank's products work ok, until they stop working, and usually in a really bad, sudden manner.
Sorry for the OT response, but would you include their pedals in this appraisal?

The pedals are where it all started...

;)

The FTM is supposed to be something of a light trailbike. They try to make it a longer travel RX, but it's really not that, either as much as a Spot isn't really a longer travel Flux. They're just different categories. That's why this group is a bit strange. It seems too fragile for what the FTM's trailbike intentions are.

I love it! Don't know much about the cobolt wheels but the pedals have held up for me for the last 3-4 years without any problems!

You know I look at the Crank Brothers Cobalt wheels and Engineering wise they just look all wrong. Then I look at Industry Nine wheels and wonder why didn't someone build these sooner. On those wheels the engineering is just what it should be.

See the long term test review on Pinkbike....

I dunno... I9 are not the best example of engineering.

Oddly, the good ole wheel 32X3 cross, steel spokes is.

Just like the derrailleur... there may be better solutions, but nobody has come up with one.

Yeah, I was thinking about a Rohloff for years, but there are tradeoffs I'm not willing to go with just yet, until I know for sure. Oddly enough, Rohloff on commuters are quite common here.

In the end, I decided to wait because it seems like other companies are now pushing the development of internal geared hubs, and bringing the pricing down with the further development. Leave it up to SRAM and SHimano to do so. Probably in a few years, some form of internal transmission, whether HS or a rear hub, will be on my bike, and much cheaper and less finicky than the Rohloff. Hell, on top of that, they've given us word for years now about their newer, lighter hub. Still waiting.

I9's are nice, but they have tradeoffs that won't work for some. At the same time, many of their users know what they are getting before they buy, so to each their own. If they could make their classic hubs lighter, they would probably be more competitive.

The I9 and Crank Bros. wheels are both super blingy. And they should be, considering they cost double or triple of what a conventionally built wheelset does. Wheels with straight-pull spokes aren't a new idea, and neither is making spokes out of materials other than steel. In my opinion any "new" concept in wheel design has to be competitive pricewise to really catch-on, otherwise it's just jewelry. Not that I have any problem with bike jewelry :)

I think it's pretty cool that Titus is making these matched kits an option. The Titus website seems to be in the process of being updated - when will we be able to see a list of all the parts included in the new build kits?

If Crank Bros gets a whack of warranty issues with those wheels, they will meet the same fate as their crankset. Then what do you do. Great CS isnice, but not needing it in the first place is still a better plan and better sign of engineering.

Shouldnt they use the iodine ( orange ) wheelset rather than the XC cobalt ?
Or does the colour clash !!
