Tire suggestions?

625 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  pitmang1
Looking for a larger volume (2.2-2.5) set of tires for my Coiler. I ride mostly XC with a few drops every now and then. Terrain is mostly hardpack, lots of roots and rocks are strewn about the topsoil. I would also like to keep the weight to a minimum. I am not opposed to running different front and rear tires and I usually like my front a tad wider. I plan on possibly running homemade tubless if that makes a difference.

No suggestions.
C’mon Shig you disappoint me, I guess I am speaking of something that doesn’t exist? Well if I decide against tubless will that bring to mind?
I'm sure there are several tires that would work great, with tubes in them, but if you ran them "homemade tubeless", and they leaked, or ruptured, or just didn't work well, you might not be happy, so I'd guess that might be why nobody wants to suggest anything.

Very short list (many more good ones):
  • Schwalbe Fat Albert 2.35
  • Syncros Point N Chute 2.3/2.5
  • IRC Mibro 2.25
  • Conti Diesel 2.5
Kenda Nevegal 2.5
I ride these front and rear on my Surly 1x1 and they hook up like crazy plus give a nice little bit of cush when I drop stuff.
