Just purchased a 2011 hifi deluxe. love the bike, have a question on the tire sizes. it came with the Bontrager tires but the front tire size is 29x2.25 55/57 while the rear is 29x2.0 44/50 - much more narrow in the rear. The LBS stated this was normal stock. Seems a bit unusual, can't say i've seen this before (though i don't tend to stare at tire sizes on the trail). My specialize has like sizes front and back. anyone have a 2011 that is similar or different?

Mine came with 2.2's front and rear (also a Deluxe) though that "2.2" rear Bontrager Jones XR actually measures to 2.0 inches. First thing I did was toss the front tire and put on a real 2.25, the Ardent.
It's not unusual at all to run a narrower rear tire for an XC application, rolls a little faster and doesn't give up much performance in the corners.

Thanks photodog for the info. i'm going to look into replacing the stock tires - they don't seem to grip well in mud. May also go tubeless at the same time.

My wifes bike came the same way. It is not a bad set up. The front tire holds good in the corners and the back tire rolls good. Once they wear out I will be putting Sworks Fast Trac on here bike.

Mine came with 2.25 front and 2.20 rear. I put Fast Track Grid UST 2.0 on the rear.

It's funny, when you look at Trek's web site, the specs say the bike comes with 29-2. When you look at the picture above the specs, the bike is fitted with 29-3.
My bike came with Jones XR.
