Tips for building lightest weight 29er alloy wheel-set?

1874 Views 7 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  gsteitz
Realize this is a bit of a cross post with the weight weenie forum, but I wanted to know of any suggestions for building up the lightest weight 29er alloy wheel-set. Think if I could be around 1600g or less that would be excellent.

Rider is 5' tall and sub 100 lbs, looking to run a 2.4 tire.

Thanks for your thoughts

Damn son! 1600 grams for an alloy wheelset? Is this for XC?

Weights are all reported, so real world will probably be a bit heavier. You can always remove the tape and claim under 1600 grams. In the other hand straight pull hubs are usually a few grams lighter.

I've had good luck out of the Stan's Crest wheelset. A stock set will bring you under 1600 grams. I've used these laced to the Stan's hubs and also to DT Swiss 350s. I've also used the Arch listed above, but not the 28 hole. It was solid as well. FYI, I've used these rims for roughly a decade at this point.
