Holy CRAP, I just got home from riding Dakota Ridge / MW a little while ago, and I'm about to take a shower and go to bed. I was washing my face when I noticed what I thought was a zit in my beard, under my chin. Not an unusual occurrence, so I go to pop it and I realize that HOLY CRAP THAT'S NOT A ZIT, IT'S AN F'ING TICK AND IT'S CRAWLING AROUND IN MY BEARD!!!

Luckily, it hadn't dug in for dinner yet, it was still unattached and it fell on the floor where I squashed it triumphantly. But now I just have the heebies, and I want to shave my head just in case.

Holy GOD that freaked me out.

I don't practice arachnophobia but I gotta admit, ticks always freak me out too.

Ticks are only bad when you have to pry them out with a knife:D

Spiders don't freak me out at all, not in an irrational sense, anyway. Ticks were never a phobia for me either. But now that I've felt one squirming around in my facial hair... Ughn. I'm just glad it didn't bite me, and that it wasn't a deer tick, so I probably won't catch Lyme disease. I hope.

This thread would have been much cooler if it was titled "tickle my beard."

Or tickle me **with** your beard.
I'm so thankful right now that I can't grow a bread because that's just awkward.

This reminds me of a joke I once heard....

2 tics (fleas in the original joke) are in the Denver Airport bar.

Tic 1 says to the other "I really need to get to LA to see my mother, but can't afford the airfare"

Tic 2 says "No problem! All you do if find stewardess that is on an LA bound flight, crawl up her leg and nestle in for the ride."

Tic 1 says "You're a genius!" He does just that and drifts off to sleep in a nice warm, soft bed.

When he wakes up, he is startled by a strong gust of wind and realizes that he is stuck in the beard of a guy going 50 mph on a Harley up Poudre Canyon.

Ba Dump Ba!

Damn your sick mind!

I was trying to figure that out myself. My guess is, it got on my pack when I stopped to re-inflate my front tire, which had burped a bunch of air when I squared-up on a tombstone on the descent toward the road at the south end of DR. Then it made its way from my shoulder strap up my jersey to the hair of my chinny chin chin. That's the best theory I got, anyway. It might also have been in my bed, deposited by my dog, who spends a lot of time outside. But I'm pretty sure I didn't have it when I woke up yesterday.
