Thoughts on ISCG Tab adapter

1425 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Scott2MTB
My bike doesn’t have ISCG tabs, and it has a press fit BB. I found this:

Automotive lighting Camera accessory Audio equipment Gadget Rim

Has anyone used ithis or a similar adapter? If so, did it work well?

Thanks

My guess would be frame designers take into an account strength the bb area of the frame is to be used with a bash guard....

Impact.on that is taken by the spindle...

I would only use your adapter for a top chain guide if it were my frame...$.02

Wolftooth CAMO chainring system has a bashring. No ISCG required. From experience, it works great.
do you want to bash with it or mount guides ?

bashing is best if the BB was built with tabs....
for mounting guides/rollers anything works
Thanks for the responses. I want it for bashing. And wasn’t even thinking about frame integrity. I was concerned about the adapter breaking. I’ll take your advice and pass for bashing. I suspected the adapter may not be the best idea when I couldn’t find any in the USA. The only ones I could find are in South Africa and China.
Fifty-fifty chance it'll work. :giggle:

The chainring mounted bash is a good solution. Normal riding it will only get glancing blows and the force is in the cranks. Trials bikes use the crank mounted setup and trials riding hammers the crap out of the bash. Having said that, I don't recommend the wolftooth bash for trials style riding because the bash is much larger in diameter (and thinner) than the ones designed for <22 tooth rings. I bashed mine into a log doing pedal gaps on my MTB and the bash crumpled and I couldn't pedal home. The frame wasn't impacted at all though.

All that to say, if you're looking for a bash for normal MTB riding to protect your chain and ring against the usual scrapes and such, the wolftooth bash works great.
