Thinking about buying Noir 3.3, any thoughts about carbon cranks??

I'm replacing components on my Ellsworth Truth and a single ring Truvativ Noir crankset in the classifieds caught my eye. I started researching the 3.3 Noir. Pretty damn light, cool, etc., but you gotta use a GXP bottom bracket.

I'm considering seriously buying it. Are there comparable brands/units I should consider before dropping the cash on the Noir?

Thanks......

Nothing wrong with carbon for cranks.

Race Face and FSA both also make comparable units. I like the Race Face one myself, purely based on reputation.

Yes, you gotta use the proprietary GXP bottom bracket. But aside from somewhat limited upgrade options, it's not all that bad as external BB designs go, IMO. My first GXP BB lasted probably 12 months of daily riding, and I was a little underwhelmed by it. BUT then I dropped in some Enduro ceramic bearings (found on eBay), they've been spectacularly good; well-sealed, durable and amazingly free-spinning.

To sum up, if you're considering the Stylo cranks, then don't let the GXP thing put you off.
