Well it was raining pretty good Wednesday night but we didn't let that stop us from enjoying our passion. With fog enveloping 4 riders we wound our way deep into the canyons below Cool California. It was dark, and just a little bit spooky being on these trails known for mountain lions. In fact, just a few years ago a jogger on these exact trails was killed by a lion and partially eaten. We took several pictures of our ride and were stunned to see the following image when reviewing the images today. You ever feel like your being watched on a night ride??

Were any of you guys wearing Puma brand apparrel? A very healthy looking puma concolor! Next time you ride the same trail, I bet you remember this area!

And this is one of "those" trails you can only ride at night. ;)

So the guy in blue is sniffing an air biscuit from the smiling one and the cat's recoiling in fear?

Photoshop

Zooming in on it shows it was Photoshopped. ;)
But I rode solo at New Melones Tuesday night in the rain and I really got spooked. I saw a Mt. Lion there last year and I think about it every time I hear something behind me. Since I only have a handlebar light I see total darkness when I turn my head around.

That's a cool picture - something that would make me lose control of certain body functions at the time I saw it - if I was one of the guys in the picture.

It's funny how just about any "far fetched" picture that gets thrown up on the internet immediatly gets coined "photoshoped." I blew the picture up myself and it looks pretty real with the exception of possibly the top dark line on the big cat, but that could be a branch or something else. The lighting on the cat looks a little off, but could be that bright if it was a good flash. I did notice the cat didn't have redeye which might make me believe it's "chopped and shopped". But overall it looked like a believable picture. So now we either beat up the OP for trying to fool us or we we all freak out and never re-enter the woods at night!

Either way, cool picture and great waste of time on a Friday afternoon!

Yep,

That trail is the best. I would love to see it during the daylight hours or even on a dawn patrol.

I dont know,, ya better recheck it. Your capture feature may have malfunctioned.
And unless that lion was breathing down your neck, it would be about the size of a full-on african lion.

And the lighting on the lion is a little too even for a night shot...

If it was that close, one of you would be lunch by now... :)

Nice try. You have since cropped the photo you originally posted to eliminate the telltale line
But I have a copy here :p

Hey!! How did you edit that photo to make it look like that? That's pretty tricky. ;)

You still going to be there at 9:00 AM ?
