I think it's beginning to change, but a lot of people see Bontrager products as exclusively a Trek brand, and therefore just assume that the product isn't as cool as other aftermarket brands out there. In reality, Bontrager products are generally prett good (rear hub notwithstanding) and I really like the foam grips. Apply with alcohol on a clean bar (smooth with clearcoat, like most carbon bars)and allow to dry. They won't slip until they're completely worn out anyway. This is the key for me; I used to run lock-ons exclusively until I tried the Bontrager foam grips. I actually prefer the RXL grip (even cheaper, a couple grams heavier, but larger diameter without being too big) but a lot of my friends run the XXX-lites and like them a lot.

So the Bontrager XXX Lite grips are 15g and are $11.99. I haven't seen a lot of people running them. Why not?

I've been running them on both my bikes now for about 6 months... I installed them using alchohol. They fit extremely tight but they still slip (running Salsa Pro Moto carbon bars) and I think I prefer something a little larger around... I'll be looking for something different when these wear out...
