This will go down in history as the rainiest, snowiest 2 weeks ever!!! Any data? Survival tips? Cool photos?

Anybody get riding done? Skiing/Snowboard? Rainy day diversions?

This is what winters were like in the 80s and 90s.

Klunkin West Cliff to avoid wrecking the trails. I don't know when they will dry out.

Prime riding day will be second part this wknd. Best to wait for everyone to test out the trail on Saturday and report back first.

Agree with FC, is been a few years since we are forced to sit a sunny day out due to wet trail conditions.

What's crazy is we're about to get 4 sunny days. There will really be few opportunities to ride good singletrack. And then the rain starts up again next week.

Snow ride option though :)

All I know is I am busy working and just paid $239 for a one day for my kid to ski Palisades.

That is awesome!

I've always wanted to try this when Hamilton is closed to autos.
How difficult would this be on a regular bike?

Same as always, just a little colder.

On a regular bike the best way to do it is to start from Grant Ranch and cut 1/3 of the climb out. On a road bike, with super light lycra... it's a hard climb since it never seems to end. And then on descent, it is sooo long and repetitive, and there's a climb on the descent.

On a mountain bike, it's harder. With snow clothes... way harder. :)

Placer County I hear is screwed!!! So many downed trees have fallen on power lines. Folks have to dig themselves out and the lower elevation cities don't have enough equipment and manpower. They told locals... that they'll get to fixing the neighborhoods on January 10!

Single day prices are too high, if you want "reasonable" prices you have to buy the annual passes (during previous summer/falls during discount). I think our kid's passes this year (for Kirkwood, Heavenly and Northstar) were <$300 for the season.

You either really like your son or you really hate your son.

Like him enough that I figured it was worth it for an epic snow day.

Yea, even a 4 day pass would have been far cheaper. The problem is he skis 1-3 days a year and I don’t since he took my skis and boots. He is 18 so gets charged full fare, no student discount at Palisades.
My parents would have said, “Sell more Toffee Peanuts, door to door.”

Epic pow days are priceless in a lot of ways. So many things have to line up just right. Especially given climate change's effect on Tahoe. Good on you.

Snow stories:

I have on buddy who took 3 days to get to South Lake Tahoe. He staged in Auburn and got stuck. Road opened, got turned around. Yesterday at the crack of dawn, he went for it and finally made it. He is very happy today.

And then I have another buddy who got stranded in Tahoe for 2 days and couldn't get home due to the road closure. On the day the road opened, he drove back home... 14 hours.

And I have friend getting there now. Had to do a lot of digging. A lot. :)
