I was at Whislter last week with a couple friends and had a great time. I was there with my wife so it wasn't all riding but we had a great time! One day in the park, one day riding in Lost Lake Park with the little lady, and one day on Comfortably Numb and Kill Me Thrill Me.
Day One with LoneStar on rented Konas:

Oh, don't miss too badly on any jumps or you're bear food!

Lost Lake with the wife

Comfortably Numb and Kill Me Thrill Me on rented Norco Fluids

In between rides we stashed the bikes in the hotel. Nothing like pushing a bike through the lobby of a 5 star hotel in sweated out bike gear!

Did I mentin that there are great views at Whistler?

Two other thoughts. One is that the L Fluid I rode may have fit me better than my XL Spot or a L Spot. I'll have to check the numbers but I'd bet it's in between the two Turner sizes. Both of the guys I rode with were really impressed with the HL suspension (Blur and Ventana). The second is that the Zocchi AM1 on my Fluid was sticky and couldn't hold a candle to my Revelation.
Oh, a third is that those trails are insane! I worked on a trail marked "Most Difficult" in ATL today and I don't think it was quite up to Comfortably Numb.
Yet a 4th is that NOBODY seemed to know where the trails were, even folks in the shops who rode them. We were lucky to find Kill Me Thrill Me.
A 5th thought is that I've had a couple glasses each of vodka and wine and am having more than a couple thoughts!

Killer Pics. I'll be up there again in 2 weeks for 5 days. Can't wait!!

Redrocker, isn't this astounding that no one knows where the trails are???? That's because most of the bike shop folks hit the park and that's it. Kill Me Thrill Me and other "XC" trails in Whistler are so frickin' technical and a total blast!!!! I sometimes try to lure friends out of the park when we're up there, but it's really hard to tell people that those trails are worth it. Personally, I like riding out of the park as much as I enjoy the park (and that's saying something).

You certainly sound like you got to sample some of the best goods while you were there. What'd you think of the park? Pretty cool, eh?

Next time up, you HAVE to hit Cheap Thrills. Hands down, one of the best whistler xc trails.

Cheers,
EBX

They are totally worth it. There was definitely stuff out there that I loved and also stuff that I didn't ride so I could enjoy the rest of my vacation!
We rented the Fluids at Fanatyc Co and the trails definitely used the heck out of the 5.3" of travel. It was really cool riding those trails since they threw everything under the sun at you. Yes, you had to work more than at the park. It's also plenty rewarding. I'd say that if you stick solely to the park then you're missing out on some of the flawor of the area. BTW XC up there means bring at least a 5" bike!
Man, that may have been a once in a lifetime trip. It was a bonus trip from my company and otherwise I don't know if I'd have been able to make the hike up from Atlanta. The best thing was realizing that each and every moment and savoring it. I'd love to make it back up.
