I have the opportunity to purchase a 2 pairs of Conti Mountain King Supersonic tires from a biking friend. They look like standard Mt. Kings SS with the exception of the word “TESTRIDER” written in bold white letters on the sidewall. They are made in Germany. Just wondering if there is anything different about the tire compound, tread life, etc that would differentiate these from the typical LBS one?

Conti "Testrider" labels are used on sample, preproduction, prototype and special conditions (for a specific event and/or rider) tires. No way to know what the differences are without being told by Conti--and likely they will not know after the tires pass through a few hands.

General reports for tires like yours is they are grippier and wear more quickly.
