Tequila Tree on my local shred

13686 Views 89 Replies 39 Participants Last post by  Mrwhlr
Drawing inspiration from my riding brethren down south, I decided my local shred needed it's own Tequila Tree. Directions to the tree are as follows:

On a Twisted Path,
A rocky sight;
through it's aim,
a red delight.

On a reciprocal heading,
you climb some more;
some 200 steps,
up a sandy shore.

Off to your left,
will be a tree;
beneath it's branches
you're soon to see.

A rocky house,
contains within;
a glass filled full
not whiskey nor gin.

But a cork held tight,
A silver cap;
A glass warm gold,
A border snack.

If you should find,
this tasty retreat;
Please drink some now,
but don't deplete.

My trips to visit,
will be for sure;
To restock our friend,
A taste, obscure.

Definitely first rate!

I'll soon deploy
in search of this treasure
and with relish enjoy
its taste with great pleasure
to discover by moonlight
shall be quite the chore
if I consume it
I you'll deplore...
Others may find it
that is indeed
but if you're lucky
they'll prefer weed

Reminds me of a similar situation...

Brotherman,

1st- I am forwarding this to a friend of mine who has turned into a geo cache junkie. You have just upped the ante with the BS they leave each other.

As for the title- Long ago I worked at a ski resort in Colorado and on those slopes were numerous "Rasta huts" in the trees between the runs (sorry, I can't give location details without possible repercussions.) In one we found a huge and incredibly efficient bong wrapped in plastic that had a simple poem taped to it. It said, "Don't take; don't break it. It'll be here all year."

I dig the spirit of your stash.

If anyone finds it, PM me.....the poem reads true, but then again....so does the Lost Dutchman Mine lore.....I thought of requiring a 2-meter staff equipped with an Egyptian ruby amulet at sundown on the Kalends....but I got lazy, so I composed the poem instead.

I know nothing of "rasta huts".....
I was never into poetry but that now has all changed. This is my favorite poem about my favorite drink.
"And one jamir to honor the Hebrew God whose Ark this is."

this is motivation to get out and ride Hawes with you asap! well done. i vow to bring a bottle of El Jimedor next ride.

if you do find it, do something classy like add to the poem, not post the gps points. :thumbsup:

Yeah, but when was the last time you saw actual pictures of the Lost Dutchman???

I might just have to throw a salt shaker and a couple limones in my camelback and call in sick tomorrow (and tuesday!!).
Really Maad?

Maad,

I am very surprised to read about your self proclaimed ignorance of Rasta huts. I don't mean to make much of it but the snow sliding community is notorious for its ganja indulgence- and I'm not casting aspersions here. I was not trying to hijack your theme but your agave alcove resembles, without being identical, the spirit of the huts on the slopes- 'share with kindred spirits but don't make it accessible to the common man who may not appreciate it.' A non hiker/biker will most likely not find your cache, just like a green and blue trail rider, even black run indulgers, will not find the 'huts' in the trees between the black runs on the 'mary jane' side of the mountain.

This has reminded me of another cultural reference that I neither highly recommend nor outrageously denounce, but one must be careful with a Kevin Costner reference. See the movie 'Fandango" (might have been his first movie and has many funny scenes) about a stash of Dom Perignon.

Again Maad, I commend your enterprise. You have inspired me. I wonder though, about your sensimilla diffidence.

........Fandango is a great movie.....as for being careful with Kevin Costner references, I had no idea he was so controversial.....????
Stash

Years ago, TAOS Ski Mtn. had a maintained stash of martinis in a glass beaker of some type at the top of the run at the base of a special tree. :thumbsup:
They probably don't do that anymore due to liabilities, societal changes, etc.
That is the coolest tree I have ever seen! :thumbsup:
Saturday morning was a beautiful day to go in search of the tree. Neither SCAZ or Titusbro or myself are partakes of the firewater, but the fact remains that there is something out there hidden in the hills....

And it is under my skin and inside my head.

We went. We searched. We had Googled "reciprocal heading" in advance because we don't talk like that. We got sprinkled on. The wind guided us.

The clues made sense. We knew we are on the right trail. Our only problem today was...everything looked like a "sandy shore" to us...

I guess we totally suck at finding hidden booze.

I try to convince myself that I'm done looking. That next time I go out, I'm just going to enjoy the trail and the peace and quiet. Don't drink, what does it matter?

But who am I kidding? I sit and wonder about that slight incline I overlooked. Did I take 200 steps, or did I take strides? Is that like a size 9 shoe step, or does Maad have like size 10.5 shoes?

I should have never opened this thread. Damn you Maadjurguer!

Saw several folks out looking for it yesterday....watched you all from my perch, some are on the right track...some are not. The stash is now full, thanks to DurtGurl for the refill....

Rib tonic.:)
Firewater hurts my belly with a vengeance, have some occasional upper GI irritation, but a ride like Maad does, it's the Journey, not the Destination, that counts. He's getting you out there riding, which is the best medicine.
