Howdy -

I know that Shimano makes several different XT-level hubs, and one wheelset I'm considering uses the 6-bolt version, model #756. I looked at the owners manuals for the 756 and 775, and it appears that they use different freehubs. Does anyone know if the 756's freehub is the older version that may have fewer points of engagement and/or other differences from the 775 centerlock version?

Shimano introduced the new freehub with 36 POE with the 770 series. Any Shimano hub that's older will have fewer POE (18 unless I'm mistaken). Also, I believe the new hubs are not available in 6-bolt.

Thanks, that's about what I figured. From what I've pieced together, the generation of hubs prior to the 77X series had 18 or maybe 24 POE.

On that note, do any of you guys have the Mavic 717/XT 756 6-bolt wheels that BWW offers? How are they working out for you?
