i have tektron HO disc brakes 160 and can't seem to figure out want they are, i dont feel they are stopping real well. I have a Novara float moutain bike front fork is a matinou trace comp 100. I want to upgrade brakes can i install the bb7 maybe with 180 mm disc and do i have to change levers and cables to. i am a beginner at this

BB7s can be installed on your bike, using the same levers, without problem. You should plan to replace the cables and housing though. BB7s benefit noticeably from compressionless housing (like the Jagwire Mountain Pro Brake), but even standard new housing and cables will make a noticeable difference.

In my experience the HO brakes actually have decent performance, although the BB7s are MUCH easier to adjust. If you want a lot more stopping power try a 180mm front rotor and some EBC gold pads, just make sure you get the correct adaptors for the larger rotor.
