I'm taking my son David to Woodward West near Tehachapi in a couple weeks and was wondering about the riding in that area. I'm looking for a fun 2-3 hour loop. I ride a rigid single but I really like Skegg's/Pacifica type riding if that helps. Thanks in advance.

I worked at Woodward and there is not much to ride close to camp that i ever found. there is a long dirt access road off the back side of the stallion springs mountains that goes to the valley east of I-5 south of Bakersfield. Downhill one way and back uphill. Not too bad of a grade though. Nice scenary and free range livestock.

As for single track, take a day and drive 1.5 hours to Kernsville, take a shuttle up to the Cannell trail. It is a great ride. Maybe hot and a little bumpy with the rigid. It is really fun.

You could ask the folks at the camp about any new riding but things probably have not changed much up there.
