Is it still recommended/beneficial to put a couple layers of teflon tape around the threads of a bottom bracket?

Also, my current BB is Shimano XTR SM-BB93 English Bottom Bracket with 1 spacer.

A SHIMANO Deore XT M8000 Bottom Bracket - 68mm BSA should also be compatible, correct?

Yeah. Grease. Some threaded BBs (Shimano...) come with a white semi solid lube/anti-seize already on them. Grease them anyway. IDK what purpose teflon tape would serve.

Curious...is this a new BB install or service on existing?

If new, my thoughts are to pop the seals and take a look at the bearing grease quantity. I have found several new BB bearings somewhat minimally lubricated in the past.
