Man I had a great day biking today! It was my most extensive "mountain" biking with my GT Peace since I purchased it a few weeks ago. I reported in another post that I separated my shoulder mid-November snowboarding, so I've been taking it sorta easy (just started physical therapy a few days ago for my shoulder).

Anyway, for Colorado Springs residents you're probably familiar with Ute Valley park... needless to say, it was a beautiful day today, but of course there is still a good bit of snow and ice on the ground. Obviously this ain't Section 16 or Palmer Park or Cap'n Jacks or any of that, but doing some decent technical stuff in these conditions felt pretty good. The trails in Ute Valley were in typical mid-Winter form, with lots of the white stuff and some slick as heck icy patches. I owned it today! I made it up every piece I tried except one at the end of the 90-min ride when I was just gassed, couldn't quite make it up that piece and had to walk it about 10-15 feet.

I'm stoked! Lookin' forward to getting better and better and hope to do a race or two by Spring/Summer. Don't really care to win anything, but I'm feeling a lot more confident that at the very least, I won't totally embarrass myself LOL.

SS rules!

those exist?
nuck_chorris...Ha i'm with you there! First ride on my new Surly I was tossing the chain left and right because of my pieced together drivetrain, Then on my second ride (drivetrain perfect now) I snapped the side plates on a brand new pc-991 chain, Third ride my high mileage magura louise brake levers pulled all the way to the bars (blown seals) And finally my last couple rides have been great! I wonder what the next rides are going to be like?

RS Pike fork, Tioga spyder saddle and 650b wheels will be installed soon!
i tore it up in ky today until i flatted both tires.. dang snow on the trail made it so you couldn't really tell where the trail was.. but it was at night also.. so that added a bit of difficulty as well.

yea I had it running pretty solidly for about 2 months, until my seatpost binder bolt broke then everything went south. plus i was changing the gear ratio a lot and my chain just had about enough of me taking the links out and replacing them so thats that.

now ive decided that Im not going to ride until spring comes because i have terrible asthmain cold weather . maybe when I graduate this May i will be fortunate enough to get that Peace Niner ive wanted.
