When do you start tapering for a race? (what's your workout 7 days out, 5 days out, 2 days out, etc.)

one week- off...walk the dog
six days- just an easy spin
five days- Mediums efforts....nothing to crazy
four days- Hard efforts.....simulate the race
three days- off...maybe walk the dog around the block
Two Days- Easy spin
one day- ride the course...easy pace

I'd add a couple of hard efforts the day before to get those fast twitch muscles ready. About 2 or 3 one minute in length sprints followed by a couple of minutes of easy spinning in between should do.
