A friend is moving out of state soon and he’s looking to get in one more ride at Tamarancho tomorrow. Anyone know what the conditions are like now?

Was just looking at their website, it says closed through (at least?) the first week of the new year. And the day pass link doesn't work -- so seems like no go.
p.s. back side China Camp always a good post-rain spot with great trails.

Tamarancho is closed. Probably closed all week. If we are lucky it will be open next weekend, but with how wet and soggy everything is who knows.

Muddy is not the right description for just how much mud Tamarancho has right now.

Even Tamalpais was wet and soggy.
Yeah I was near there at San Geronimo valley the other day and some of the dirt roads are like peanut butter soup.
San Pedro mt has better trails anyway
The current status is always available here:

It's funny cause it's not current at all. Tamarancho website. Updated before Christmas.

There was no change so no update.
BUT yesterday (1/9) A4B sent out notice that camp was reopened since the forecast is favorable.
BSA admin should have their sites updated by EOD today
The trail work crew got some good progress this past weekend and there’s more scheduled ,see below. Conditions are still challenging. The second small bridge above the dam moved again 😤 and A4B conducted emergency weekday repairs , but a total rebuild will be coming.

Trail work season is here, that time of year when winter rains soften the ground, making track maintenance work easier. It's also a good time to give back, step up in your riding community and tune up the much-loved and heavily-used singletrack loop. Join friendly Marin mountain-bike volunteers led by Access4Bikes to improve the trails for better riding! Each Saturday date listed below contains a link to sign-up for the trail day. All information is included, so please show up if you sign up!

As trail users, it is our responsibility to be stewards of the lands we impact. This past winter of 2021, A4B volunteers logged over 1000 hrs of trail work maintaining and improving some of our favorite rides. Local videographer J. P. Rose was there working side by side with volunteers while simultaneously capturing and documenting the effort!
With your help over the last two trail work seasons in partnership with Access4Bikes, volunteers restored significant portions of the classic Tamarancho loop including mitigating downslope erosion and rebuilding several switchbacks on B-17, tread work on Endor, building a boardwalk over meadow area on Serpentine as well as addressing drainage and pulling invasive Scotch and French broom throughout the loop.

This winter we will tackle both routine maintenance as well as some notable projects like a new bridge over slide damage on Broken Dam trail. Tools, and instruction, will be provided. Please bring water, gloves, good footwear, and a snack. See you out there!

I went up that direction on saturday, there was a sign at the bottom of the road climb stating that tamarancho trails were closed.

I saw the update on A4B instagram about the bridge. It's great the level of interest and trail repairs that have been going on in 2021. The work they have done on Solstice and at Tamarancho has been astounding (comparatively). Makes me moderately hopeful for the future of Marin biking.

Updates before the weekend with a simple "open / closed" message would be nice. Especially with covid use I think we get people who have no idea and then go ride it anyway "because they are already there."
The day pass part of the website still seemed to be busted last night. I stopped at one of the shops and bought one on the way in today. Trails were good. A few puddles here and there.

Traffic getting there was light because everyone was watching the Niners game on TV. Hopefully the timing on the next game can be exploited for similar purposes.
