Tallboy Climbing Issue

1230 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  TR
I love my new tallboy, except for some issues I am having climbing steeper terrain. The steeper the climb gets, the farther my seat feels like it is sagging. I feel like I'm riding a recumbant bike! Can anyone give me some tips on seat position and suspension set-up? I am not sure if this is a common issue with the VPP? I have the Fox RP23 on the rear.

Couple of questions
1. how much do you weigh?
2. are using a setback seatpost?
3. are you using propedal on climbs?

1. I weigh 130, and am 5'6"
2. I am not using a setback seatpost, my seat is aligned with my knees right over the pedals.
3. I have tried using the propedal in all 3 settings, I have tried going without it.

I have a feeling this has something to do with my seat position on the bike. My legs are not very long, so the seat is a little lower than the average rider.
What pressure are you running in the rear shock?

It should be somewhere around 130psi which should give you 8 to 11 mm of sag for your weight.
Shock settings are on the SC website.
Are you using those?
I only ask because I have found other riders who were not aware of the SC recommendations.
