Talas for ASR 5 Carbon

I am about to order a large ASR 5 carbon with the race kit
I just sold my 575 who had a 110/130/150 TALAS

I do mostly trail riding up and down here in the French Alpes

What do you think about the fork
Talas 100/120/140 or talas 110/130/150 ?

No yeti expert here but the geometry of that bike says 150 might not be too great - unless you need 66.5* HA. As a package the bike might handle better with 120/140 opposed to 130/150. I kind of like the idea of a fixed length Revelation set at 130. No adjustments to play with, 20mm TA - point and shoot.

This week will arrive my new ASR-5, 575's substitute too. Talas 08 (100/120/140) will be the choice for the front suspension. I think more than 140 mm is not good for head angle.
I did somthing similar and took my Pushed Talas off my old 575 and put it on to my ASR sl. I usually run it around 110 to 120mm. Any more than that and starts to interfere with the way the bike handles on the climbs. I would check with Yeti to see what their recomendation is.
It would be good to have some feedback on how a ASR5 rides when compared to a 575 running a Fox36 lowered to 130mm.

Id be interested to know if you think of the change of frame.

Cheers Phil

I talked to Yeti about putting a 140mm on the ASR5 Carbon and they said it was not covered under warranty at this time. I assume the ASR5 Alloy is no problem as it seems to be built with much of the 575s tubing.

I haven't asked Yeti yet, but I noticed they changed their website for the ASR5 Alloy. They no longer have geometry listed for a 140mm fork and in the FAQ, they only list 120mm for the fork.

Oddly, the PDF copy of the manual still has both fork sizes mentioned for the Alloy and Carbon frames.

So no 140mm forks on the ASR5carbon, as they're not covered under warrenty? shame,as i was leaning towards getting the carbon, rather then the alloy. but i really would prefer to fit some 140 talas/FIT floats on it. Ive now got a tricky descision to make between the ASR5 and a Ibis mojo -like the idea of the mojo because of the flexibility of the forks i can run on it (up to 160mm) without voiding warrenty.

ive got a demo of the alloy asr5 in a week or so, i will see how i get on :)
Why not look at the 575 if you want
a 140-160mm fork.

Best, John
thanks john - yes its now a distinct possibility,as i think it may offer more flexibility for me to build up the frame as needed, either XC or more AM
