This is a Call-To-Action thread. Your help is needed to Support the Auburn Bike Park. See the "Take Action Now" section below for what you can do. A reply to this thread with "Done" helps show your support.

All verbiage below taken directly from
http://www.auburnbikepark.com/:

Auburn Area Parks and Recreation District (ARD) approved the Auburn Bike Park at the Maidu Drive location, but some equestrians are organizing and trying to move the pump track to Regional Park.

The Action Coalition for Equestrians - Sierra Foothills Chapter (ACES) created a "research paper" (click here to see the paper) listing several reasons the bike park should not be at the Maidu location. Please see below for our response to their paper.

ACES also created an on-line survey in hopes of rallying support for their position. This survey comes after more than a year of research by the Auburn Bike Park committee, of 18 sites, to find a suitable site in Auburn that is centrally located for local kids and families to easily access the park. We have discovered that many of the equestrians who oppose the site don't even live in Auburn. The survey is open to anyone who wants to submit comments.

Regional Park was removed as an option because it would be cost prohibitive to develop. There are currently no roads, or amenities, and the location is not easily seen from the street which is an issue for kid safety. Auburn should have two bike parks, one for each side of town. Perhaps in the future Regional Park can be the North Auburn site provided we can raise enough financial support to develop that site.

Write to the ARD
The ARD supports the Auburn Bike Park at the Maidu location. However, it really helps if they hear from our supporters. Let them know that mountain bikers and equestrians already share many of the same trails. Kids and community should come before horses. Auburn needs a safe place for kids to ride that is accessible, by bike, from the neighborhoods where families live. Cyclists deserve to enjoy the beautiful canyon too. This is a bit of a repost. The ACEs survey was posted a month ago in this thread

Yeah, true. Just trying to get the call-to-action from that thread front and center. This forum is chock-full of information - so much so that it's easy to lose important info in the discussions - like "Go sign this petition". That didn't come up in the thread you mention till the 2nd page.

It's also like the "The Future of Marin Mountain Biking..." thread. If we want people to take a specific action, would be better to title "Your Action Needed, Marin meeting...".

Even better would be to get the call-to-action threads sticky for a little while. There's a lot of collective trail advocacy passion here, how to best harness it.
