Well this is surely not good:
A disgruntled local might have sabotaged a popular Tahoe bike trail (msn.com)

I've personally never ridden the trail but have ridden Flume and TRT near Marlette/Spooner every year for the past 20 years and have never had a single problem.

Believe there's a script used by Reuters/AP that releases this article every other year. Variables for Trail Name, Trail Hazard, and Local Area Residents to keep it fresh and up to date.

Could not agree more, been my observations that SFGate somehow reports on Lake Tahoe like it is local and in their backyard. I am amazed at how often they publish stories about the "hidden gems" in the Sierras & Foothills without regard to the size of their audience and the lack of parking and facilities available, let alone to the environmental impact of the large crowds generated. It would be interesting to find out how much additional trail traffic is generated by these types of articles, feel sorry for the locals who are affected by it.
