Here's my call to everyone enjoying the sick mental conditions right now...

The Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association (TAMBA) will be having a Fall Trail Showcase this weekend. *Dirt conditions are pretty much amazing and the weather will be sunny and 60s so please join us for a weekend of riding and trail building, along with food, drink & fun. Saturday is our last official trail work day of the year, so if you haven't made it out, now's your big chance to give back for the year.

Saturday October 22 - Trail Day #2 on Toads (Saxon Creek)We will be working again on the upper sections of Toads picking up where we left off last month. *Everyone should ride their bikes out to the work area and then ride down afterwards. *All tools have already been dropped off by the Forest Service so the hard work is done.

Time:*Meet at the rock sections @ 930 am - this is about 1/2 mile down from the intersection of Saxon Creek and the Rim Trail. *Allow enough time in the morning to ride up from Luther or Big Meadow or Armstrong.* We will work until about 3pm, then ride down to Watta Bike Shop*for a free BBQ and drinks to all volunteers. *Free lunch will be provided on the trail from Yellow Sub*and free Clif Bars to keep us all fueled. * As always any time you can contribute during the day is helpful, if you are planning to ride Toads anyway this Saturday, stop at least for an hour or so and help out. If you want to carpool in the morning, please meet at Watta Bike at 830am.
Bring:* Water, long sleeves, sunglasses, gloves, your bike. *We will provide free sandwiches for lunch and snacks.

Sunday October 23 - Group Ride from Stagecoach to Star Lake Connector and Cold Creek TrailsWe have put together a group ride with members of the Forest Service to showcase the brand new Star Lake Connector Trail built this summer. This exciting new section of single track connects the Tahoe Rim Trail at Star Lake down to High Meadow and Cold Creek Trail.* Our ride will start at Stagecoach Lodge and follow the Rim Trail out to Star Lake, after eating lunch at Star we'll then descend down the new Star Connector Trail and continue on to the descent of Cold Creek Trail while finally ending on Powerlines back to Ski Run Boulevard. *Blue Dog Pizza*near the Heavenly gondola has graciously offered discounted pizza after the ride to all paid TAMBA members. *This is your chance to check out some new Tahoe trails and ride along with members of the Forest Service who have permitted, designed and built these trails over the last few years.*

Time:* To carpool, meet at 10:30am on Ski Run Boulevard on the mountain side of Pioneer Trail between Needle Peak (near Hansens Tubing Resort).* If you do not need to car pool meet at 11am at Heavenly's Stagecoach Lodge parking lot and be ready to ride!
* Please note this ride is about 20 miles long with close to 3,000 vert feet of climbing and 4,000 vert of decent over some fun rocky trails. *You should bring all appropriate gear, food and drink for a 4 hour ride.

Please RSVP to both these events via our FB event pages or via email to [email protected]

In addition to Sunday's Star Lake Group Ride we made a lot more improvements Saturday on Toads Trail Work Day part 2. There were 17 TAMBA volunteers and 4 Forest Service workers out there for the day working on the newer section just after the main rocky waterfall. We built some berms, armored steep sections with large rocks, and formally opened the rock drop to slab cut off. After working and riding down, Kent at Watta Bike threw us a BBQ and had some great raffle prizes for volunteers (shirts, jerseys, gloves, goggles).

Thanks to everyone that pitched in for trail work this year, we made some huge steps forward! And stay tuned for our TAMBA trail work days next year. If you have ideas or suggestions or just want to get involved drop an email to "trails - @ - mountainbiketahoe - dot - org"
