People assume that just because I have a mountain bike website that I am a good rider. Such was the case with Jim (Jay Farman) from Georgia, who bugged me for two months to take him on a Tahoe ride. I did everything I could to dissuade him, telling him I was old, crippled, slow, and I didn't drink beer. But he persisted. Since I was going to ride there anyway I finally relented and invited him along. Although he is a more skilled and fitter rider than I he seemed to enjoy the trip. We did the Tahoe Rim Trail from Mt. Rose, Redhouse Flume, up Sunflower Hill, up the Rim Trail overlooking Marlette Lake and down the switchbacks, and then down the Flume Trail to Spooner Lake, for a little over 30 miles. After doing at least 50 switchbacks at Mammoth Mt. last week I am getting better at them and I am finally enjoying going down that section of the Rim Trail. Weather was supposed to be rainy but it stayed behind us the whole day. Below are a few photos, more will be posted on my site in a few days. I did some videos for him so perhaps I'll post them too.

Very nice shots. Rode some of the same trails last Saturday. We started at Mt Rose and continued to the top of the TRT overlooking Marlette Lake, down to the lake, on to the Flume, then back to Mt Rose. Also just around 30 miles. Great ride for sure. Thanks.

GREAT TRIP! Maybe one of the best ever!

Weather - Fabulous
Fun Factor - Off the charts!
Favorite sections -
a) Rim trail north from Marlette Peak vista to intersection of Flume and Red House
b) Rim trail starting at Mt. Rose to intersection of Flume and Red House
Honorable mention - Flume trail, which was OK but presented you with about ½ hour of continuous unbelievable scenery. This place has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Glad you and Jim had a good trip.
The upside of me not going:
I got a lot of things done at home...This should help assure time for Downieville next Saturday.
Also patroling Boggs with other locals to keep the Riff-Raff effects to a minimum.

Great trip. I'm still high thinking about it after three days. Uncle MTB, wish you could have been there.

Really nice pictures, wish I could have rode on the rim trail over the weekend. Too bad the weather was a little iffy for my planned ride up there yesterday.

In any case I never tire of seeing pictures of Tahoe even though I ride/ski up there many times a year, so thanks.
