SWAT Tool

For the life of me I cannot understand why Spesh has this thing open to the drive side. As a wearer of XL gloves I can barely get a hand in there to open it. Even with my tiny 30t chainring the tool still barely clears the ring sliding out.

What am I missing? Is there some logical reason why it’s not on the non drive side where there’s infinitely more space to open and close the lid and remove/replace the tool?

I can't remember, but either it is reversible, or comes with a left/right hand option. Mine was on the left.
Turn it. It is held to the cage with one screw, I think
I was curious, so I went and looked at mine. Jchull is correct, you can flip it by removing the screw, from the inside of the tool cage and flip it to open the other side.

Turn it around, through 180 degrees.
Must be reversible since mine is on the down tube bottle facing the drive side. I saved the underside of the seat tube cage for my spare UDH hanger.

Maybe mine is an older style, but it has a metal support bracket that fits a slot. That slot is only on one side of the tool holder for me.
Are you sure if you pull the cage off the bike, you cannot just loosen the bolt and spin the tool around?
Mine is a 2019 version for reference. If you remove the tool from the tool holder, you can insert a 5mm Allen into opening of the hole of the bolt connector. It has to be done from inside the tool holder side. It looks like it’s just a circular opening, but it is machined for an Allen wrench. If you try from the top/bottle side, it won’t work from that side.

Remove your water bottle and you will see an allen head screw above the tool. Remove the tool and undo this screw which will enable you to turn the holder 180 degree's.

Yes. I’ve attempted this. As stated there’s a metal support bracket that fits into a slot of the tool holder. That slot only exists on one side of the tool holder.

Do you not have that bracket? Or did you ditch it in order to flip the tool?
I feel like I’m on Stalkerfiveo’s ignore list for some reason. Just in case I’m not, here are some pix of me swapping mine to open the opposite side.

You’re not. But there’s multiple people making the exact same suggestion so I assumed responding to one covered all.

Looking at your pictures we clearly have different setups. Yours does not appear to have the metal support bracket I’ve mentioned multiple times. Tue center bolt through the bottom of the cage into the tool holder is similar, but no metal bracket on yours.

Multiple people giving you the same correct solution that you are not listening to.

How does the support bracket work if there’s no slot for it if I flip it like suggested? No one has addressed that, so no, there's nothing you're telling me that I am not listening to. It’s not that I’m not listening, I just don’t understand how the bracket works when flipped since the photos above don’t show a bracket.
