Here's a pic from early on in the Susitna 100 which started at 9 this morning. Sunny and clear with a temp of -7. Daytime temps hit 10 or so and conditions were pretty damn good and firm, especially considering the last three years. A lead group formed early on. At the final checkpoint it was Jeff Oatley, John Lackey, and Tim Berntson, followed by Brain Bonney, veteran Tom Peichel and Andy Pohl within an hour. They should finish any minute now. Sean Grady made the good call to ride instead of walk to prepare for the Nome race next week.
