We at Trailside Discovery Camp are trying to fight childhood obesity by getting kids FAT!!

We'll be at the Arctic Bike Club Bike Swap this Saturday raising funds to start the very first FAT BIKE program for underserved youth - Keep On Rollin'

If you ride 'em you know how it feels....fat bikes bring the kid out in every rider. They are forgiving, beginner friendly, and tackle any trail, condition or obstacle. Fatbikes have the power to wretch video-game controllers and cell phone from a 10 year-olds' hands.

Keep On Rollin' will target underserved youth at the Boys & Girls Club as well as children in after-school programs at Title 1 schools through the 21st Century program. Keep On Rollin' will run year round, me a mobile unit and provide everything kids need to get FAT on our trails. Along with TDC's summer camp over 2,000 Alaskan youth will have the ability to get FAT while making healthy choices, learning about bike safety and maintenance, exploring Anchorage's trails, engaging in unstructured play, and making lasting connections with their communities and nature.

If you want to make skinny kids FAT and FAT kids skinny, here's the skinny:

  • donate bike related items
  • make a contribution to Keep On Rollin'
  • purchase a raffle ticket(s)
  • purchase TDC t-shirts
  • stop by and just say HI

For more info stop by the Trailside table at the bike swap:
