Superlight Sir 9??

1255 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Ryder1
Anybody build up a superlight sir9? Just trying to get some ideas for my new build. I've got a pretty blank canvas so far. Starting with the medium tang sir 9 with carbon niner fork.
Other parts laying around:
CC 110 Headset
Race Face atlas cranks (thinking about diff. crank but def. want 1x9)
sram x9 rear shifter
sram x9 r.der.

I'd appreciate any suggestions or ideas.

This is not a niner but a light buildup.... My SIR9 with shitty wheels and tires and the Reynolds fork is at 25lbs..... and mechanical bb7's... Im sure I can get it down to 20 with wheels/tires/cf fork and some super light hydros if i wanted too... its a large by the way.

Currently, 19.9 lbs. Will be trying Specialized Turbo tubes and Karma rear tire so will be 19.3 lbs shortly.

Not sure what my riding style is but I friggin love riding this bike! I have it dialed in EXACTLY where I want it now. Started with Karate Monkey fork, tried the Reba, now the Pace. Swapped a few other parts to get where I am and am proud to say I nailed it.

My Large SIR9 single speed is a not-that-light 24.5lbs, but it's built for trail riding (F29+Flows). Some of the lighter parts I have on it:

Crank Bros Iodine directset (~70g)
X-pedo ti/ti SPD pedals (~200g)
tubeless Stan's set-up with Stan's tape
ti seatpost
ESI "chunky" grips
Crossmark 2.1 rear tire (not that light, but really roll, and decent volume for a 2.1)
ti rotor bolts (completed retarded purchase, but now that I've got them...)
Syntace Vector 31.8 carbon bars (680mm, 12d bend, 200 grams, 10 year warranty)
