Superlight - Juliana Question

1190 Views 10 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  Bikeon
Quick question. I have a SL on order and the shop called to tell me SC sent a Juliana by mistake. It was suggested I take the Juliana and they could get SL stickers. This made me PO'd, but I showed restraint over the phone. So on top of waiting 3+ weeks, they try to sell me another bike.

So my question is, how can you distinguish between a SL and Juliana? I'm hoping the shop wouldn't pull a switch, but... And that of course would push me over the edge. BTW, this is on a brand new 2009 bike (dXC kit).

Thanks in advance...

The small and medium SL and Juliana are the same exact bike.....just different stickers. Take off the Juliana sticker and you can't tell the difference.

The only other difference is that they offer the Juliana in Ano Gold and Gray, where as the SL is Ano Gray and Blue.

Look at it this way......the Juliana runs XS, S, M and the SL runs S, M, L, XL.

Otherwise the build kit is the same and so is the price.
After checking the Santa Cruz site, I agree with mtnbikej.
Dont worry about it, if it fits, switch the stickers and ride the hell out of it!!
Same bike...take the Juliana sticker off and you'll never know the difference...
My wife and I have the same size Superlight and a Juliana. She is a bit shorter than me. But we can swap bikes and ride no worries. So get the Juliana and replace the stickers. Did you get the colour you ordered?
Thanks everyone...

If the geometry is the same, then I am fine with that. And from looking at the site, it is exact for the Small. The shop didn't quite communicate that to me yesterday. They are also going to call me today and I'll post some feedback.

As for color, I went with the red. I'm a fairly conservative guy and it was either red, white or black. I also went with the dXC kit and will upgrade as things break or if I ride a lot.

Ask them to cut you a deep discount, is their fault. Otherwise, send it back and get a SL.
I have 2008 Med Blue Ano Juliana. It is the SAME bike. I not only pulled the Juliana sticker, but also the "female" symbol sticker on the seatpost. The stickers are so cheap I dont even want replacements. Enjoy the ride and dont stress over fake marketing.
Got the bike tonight...

Thanks again for the input from everyone. I'll post up some pics later in the week, but I got the bike tonight. All is in order and the bike looks/rides great. I'll need to make some adjustments to the cockpit and can say the disc brakes are totally foreign (and sweet). More to come...

Are they the same production model ("year", but SC not used years)? New SL had change of geometry and little longer tubes.
