Hello..
Im looking for a good deal on a 2009 frame and I found a super4 (headet and thomson post included) frame for a really good price from a bike shop.
I am 5-7 tall..would a small sper 4 frame too little for me? I m using a 2007 giant trance medium and a 2007 SC heckler medium that both fit me fine..but both of them..would be ok even if a tad smaller..I have short legs and long torso..
On commencal site..sizing for small super4 frames goes to 5" to 5"-6 tall..
I have owned a medium Meta 5, 2006 some time ago..and I have to say that I put a 50mm stem on it..and still it felt almost long to me..
thanks

I am 5'8" and do sometimes ride my wife small super 4. It is acceptable with a 80mm stem, but the wheel base is a bit short for my taste. If u don't do a lot of extremely deep desent and seeing u are 5'7", it should actually be quite nimble and fun.

I just do trail riding..some techical rides..but on downhills nothing that fast that asks fpr a long wheelbase .
Tough call!

The Meta 55 is quite the different beast, in it's geometry at least - and at your height a Small Meta 55 would be the way to go.
As for the Super 4, sounds like you're right on the fence.

However, if you have short legs - you may struggle for standover on the medium.
What is your inseam?
Check it against the bikes standover on Commencals website to see how much clearance you will roughly have (fork and tyres will change this number a bit).

I stand at around 5'9" maybe 5'10" and the medium is sweet for me.

Has the store offered to fit you up on the new bike once it's built?
I would stress the importance of having the bike fitted by a professional, as you may find the Thomson straight post will not give you enough rear saddle movement.

I use a straight Thomson post on most of my bikes, since I have shorter thighs and requires a more forward saddle position. Some people are longer in the upper leg and require more layback on their seatposts.
There is a chance that straight Thomson post could be useless to you if it doesn't allow for enough saddle adjustment.

Also, if you are struggling for measurements, check out Wrench Science's bike fit calculator. Select the MTB version, get a friend to help you measure everything up and see what comes out, it can be very helpful when determining size.

That is a hard one.
I would recommend the medium. Your best bet will be to measure the reach on your current bike, and compare the top tube to the 22in Small, or the 23in Medium. Stand over on all Commencal models is generous so I recommend going with top tube measurements. The Super 4 is an XC machine, typically with a 100mm-110mm stem so keep that in mind. Hope that helps
