After spending an inordinate amount of time drinking beer and playing with various things on my bike last night, I felt maybe I should show up for the SoMo ride this morning.

There was quite a group of folks - and I believe we even saw Kendogg at some point but he was going too fast to stop and join us.

IN Dirdir fashion:

1. The gathering at dawn
2. Gathering for the trundle up Mormon
3. The Sun does not rise, rather the earth rotates..or at least that's what they told us in school.
4. The posse waiting for me
5. A little 4 peaks action

As usual I seem to be relegated to the rear due to underdeveloped lungs and little scrawny legs. If you will notice how few pics I have of Epicrider riding...it's either cause it is merely a rumor that he actually rides or because he seems to be way, way out front.

So all my action shots are from the rear end. I promise I am not from Miami or San Fran

1. DurtGurl zooming along
2. Above the waterfall..Epicrider walking his bike because and only because he is putting it somewhere so he can take pics from up front like the lead dog that he is.
3. Same but different rider

waterfall legacy

For those of you who frequent this place, you may be aware I have a ritual of puking on South Mountain..usually it is Javelina. This time it happened right off the side of the waterfall.

However I;ve never seen water running down it...but a copious amount of beer from HIgh Falls brewery (Rochester NY) flowed over these rocks.

On the way down I attempted descending the waterfall no less than 3 times..with less than successful results.

I watched butocabra and carmen flow down this thing like vomit from my lips..amazing stuff. Smooth but powerful.
I had to have some poor family pull my bike off of me..several times.

Later on and further down National I had a wee OTB and some hot jogger girl happened to come around the corner just in time to see me in disarray and assist me in extricating myself from the akward position I seemed to be in...and no she did not offer her phone number.

These are the results.

BTW, that happens to be my knee

Thanks Buto for holding my shock pump and slime since spring fling.
I still owe you 10 dollars for gas!

And another thanks to the Nowacki fam for providing much needed ice cold gatorade at Buena Vista.

Someday I shall not be such a parasite. Though I have to say I am very fond of leeching on to others for enjoying some good times.
Thanks to our ridemaster "K" Durt, for putting together a very fun ride !!
It was a great group of folks, some recognized from other rides and some new. All in all
a cool crew to tour SoMo with 1st thing in the morning. Thanks a bunch to the dutiful husband and adorable daughter for the refreshments atop the mountain, thats was beyond the call of duty and much appreciated.

I'm not sure the hardtail was ideal for the decsent(a tad violent in some areas), but she was fantastic on the climbs. I definately need to spend more time on SoMo, there is trails branching off every where it seemed. Plenty to explore out there for sure !!

Well, thanks again to all who braved the early morning call........I think we can all agree that it was a good time a well worth it. Besides, I've already had a nap and its only noon:thumbsup:

Have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe, you are towards the back due to lack of sleep and/or the beer from just a few hours before the ride? Considering that you were posting your bike fixes at 2AM and then showed up for a 5AM ride, I think you did great! Considering that it was 90 humid degrees at 5AM with not a touch of breeze, I think we all did great!! Whew - only the tough were out today. Thanks to ScottN for meeting us with cold drinks at Buena Vista!!
Thanks for the pics, I hadda blast, and the post ride mex. food was great, even if I did see the biggest cucaracha ever twitching on the restroom floor. yech.
I wanted to make it today but our baby girl was up until 3ish AM. Add to the fact that I had a few 7 & 7's only hours b/4 and that equals a rough go with the baby. But since mom had been up with her the entire time, it only took dad about 30 minutes to rock her to sleep. So there was no way I was able to make it. I should be good for the next one though so please keep the ride posts comin'!

More pics...

Great ride today! Having the sun hide behind the clouds until we got off the trail made all the difference today! Here are few pics that I took.

Why would anyone go out of their way to buy beer from Rochester, NY?

I grew up in the Western NY area and the only beer I can remember that came from Rochester was Genesee Cream Ale. It was so disgusting that we would pass it over even if it was free!

Nice pics by the way.

Because it was on sale!:D
I didn't realize where it came from until I was checking the alky by volume on the label.

I do however have a Genesee pint glass...and I do agree - it's the NY equivalent of Sch(m)itty's!

No, I thought my glycogen reserves would be at their max due to the ETOH:madman:

It was an absolute last minute decision to ride since I was so stoked I actually healed my bike rather than making it even sicker....plus I was going through withdrawal not having been able to saddle up in almost 2 weeks

Not only was it a fantastic ride with even more fantastic folk....BUT it seems to be raining this very second!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yey yey yey yey yey..and NPR's blues program is on

Life can't get much better
Fun ride guys and gals! It's nice to get out and ride some new trails with the mtbr crew.

Thanks for the entertainment Akitadog:D That was me in the pic going up the rock face. I cleaned the whole thing, right?;)
Nice Waterfall Shot!

Oh great, thanks for reminding me of my college years in Rochester. High Falls is a nice memory, but right now it's 1am and I'm having flashbacks to Genny Cream and drunken trips to grab a Nick Tahoe's garbage plate (downtown location, of course). Do they still make Peel's? Don't forget the 40oz of Schlitz malt liquor for $1.89.

Back to happy thoughts. Looks like Lance Armstrong is on Jon Stewart.
Been there, done that...

Of course I don't remember much of it. Just what my cousin could pass along.

I think I had a mild coronary from eating that garbage plate!
