Granite Basin will be hot, but we're used to it!
It's going to be 64 at 7am. Yeah it's hot, but we'll live through it:D 82 at noon but I'm sure we'll be done by then.

Su Ling willl be there along with Chris and I.

Is 5:30 too early for a leave Phoenix time for everyone? I would like to get up there somewhat early and take advantage of the AM cool temps.

Sure, I'll join ya'll for whatever. Will my sidekick SL be there? Granite Basin will be hot, but we're used to it!

Anyone want to carpool from the Ahwatukee/Tempe area??
SWEET! and yes absolutely...your sidekick/shadow will be there! :D Prescott hi-temp for Sunday is 85° according to those 'accurate' meteorologists. ;)

Dang can't make it Sunday. Dying to ride at Granite Basin soon though.
If anyone is up for a T100 warmup ride on sat around 6AM. I will be there with a buddy of mine.
Bob
BUMMER! You missed the SoMo ride too! You need to rearrange your work schedule so you don't have to be in on the weekends. Riding gooooood....working baaaaaddddd :prft: (on weekends at least). Let us know when you do have a free weekend day, Bob. Maybe we can plan another ride around your schedule.

i may be able to get over there.ill have to see what the family has planned i usaully
ride pretty early.be warned we have had alot of rain and it might be muddy in
some places.
Any info on specific trail conditions that locals can give us would be much appreciated. We've only ridden up there before the monsoons...when it was dry and the only other info has been through posts/ride reports that are current only for that ride.

At least Prescott is getting rain, down here its all show but no action.

I might be up for a carpool, as I was hoping to get out of town for a bit this weekend. I'm gonna ride SoMo tomorrow morning, then I've gotta do some yard work. If it looks like okay weather, I'd like to go.

I did an awesome ride at granite yesterday. 3 hours, lots of climbing and descending on nice, nice singletrack. If you know where to go, Granite won't be bad. Stay away from the trails on the East side, basically, and absolutely don't go in from Williamson valley road.

I would like to take you on this ride, but need to get an earlier start, and there are several difficult to find connector trails on the loop I did, so I don't really feel comfortable trying to describe it. In short, avoid the far eastern trails in the basin and you should be okay.

Yes, don't think about riding out all the way on trail 345 or doing trail 347. Those will have "death mud" sections right now.

Start at trail 37 IMO, that's what I do at this time of year.

I'm in like flint.

If you bring cell phones, put them in plastic baggies. It's supposed to be drying out for a little bit, but there's still plenty of moisture in the atmosphere.

Trail 37 trailhead.

Iron Springs Road.

Go past the Granite Basin road turnoff on Iron Springs road.

Continue.

Continue past the OHV area.

Continue untill you start going downhill past the crest, trailhead is a few hundred yards after the crest. Total distance past the Granite Basin road turnoff has to be something near 3 miles at the most.

There's less moisture now, but there's a chance of thunderstorms later on. Getting started at 8ish should allow for plenty of good riding.

Granit Basin ride Sunday the 9th. We're still in the talks of where to stage (Matate or Trail 37 Trailhead) and what time to leave Phx 5:00-6:00. We're planning on riding somewhere around 20 miles at a decent pace but with some breaks.

Anyone in?

Any Prescott riders want to show us some new stuff in the area?
Alright, Monkey-Su is detained so I'm posting the plan.............

We are leaving central Phoenix @ 5:30.....................should be 1hr45min driving time.
Meeting at trailhead 37 ..... thinking FIP @ 7:45-8
please post or plan accordingly so nobody gets left at the trailhead.

Will be good times, come on out.
pm me if you need a phone #
