One of the main reasons that I stock twice as many rear DT Swiss fatbike hubs (compared to fronts) is the quality of the Sun Ringle rear fatbike hub.
I re-lace at least a wheel a week.

Thank you. I just bought one of the few 350s still available out there to replace that turdOne of the main reasons that I stock twice as many rear DT Swiss fatbike hubs (compared to fronts) is the quality of the Sun Ringle rear fatbike hub.

Any chance somehow the moon, stars, and everything else align and the spokes are the same length so you can reuse the Sun Ringle spokes on the DT?One of the main reasons that I stock twice as many rear DT Swiss fatbike hubs (compared to fronts) is the quality of the Sun Ringle rear fatbike hub.

I've had 2 sun run ringle hubs on 2 separate wheels in the past. The first one blew up 3 times in the first year, gave up and bought a hope hub. The second hub was replaced at the first sign of trouble with a dt swiss. I've had good luck with the hope hub, but every once in awhile it "cracks" on engagement. Never any issues with the dt swiss hub.Dropped the fatty at the local MTB shop to determine why the chain was dropping off the lowest gear so bad. Bad cassette? Chain too short or worn (it is brand new), bad chainline? Nope. A bearing on the drive side was horribly munched. The Sun-Ringle wheelset is a year old but had been ridden maybe 10x. The shop said it may happen again due to the single bearing set on that side. I'm a beefcake at 220#.
Are these hubs really that crappy?
I'd think you've been lucky, these were a very common failure part. Was an OE hub on rocky mountain blizzards. I suppose it doesn't help that I'm north of 200 lbs.Weird…I was just thinking the other day how surprisingly good the SRC hub has been on my fat bike. Not big miles, it’s a fat bike after all, but 5-6 years of use.
I replaced the drive ring when it was brand new because it was popping, but since then, it’s been flawless.
pretty shitty. My freehub bearings were shot 1 year of riding. MAYBE 500 miles or so.Dropped the fatty at the local MTB shop to determine why the chain was dropping off the lowest gear so bad. That's not right. Bearing would be my first suspect. Something is flexing enough where the freehub pawl support area is contacting the ring gear.weird wear pattern from the drive ring in the pawl area.
