Hey-

I destroyed a pair of Mavic x223's last week, and I'm lookin for a new wheelset.

I don't have alot of money, and I want something that I can bash on. Weight is not as important to me as strength. I don't want to true my wheels after every ride.

That being said, I'm 6'1", 160 lbs, and ride XC. I don't hit big drops, or ride DH. I do thrash my gear pretty hard on long backcountry rides on sustained singletrack. Lots of roots, logs, rocks, etc.

I see a good deal on Sun Rhyno Lite's. Are they junk?

thanks!

i had a pair od ryhno lites that i loved. they were lite and strong for what i was doing. But a wheel is only as good as the person who builds it. if you buy a factory made wheelset make sure you take them to a mechcanic to have the once overed.

I've used my Rynho/LX wheels for "all mountain " riding for 4 years. I'm 190#, lots of sub 24" rocks/roots, no drops, no problems. Gotta say I don't use them a whole lot. Probably only about 300 mountain miles a year.

They are just fine, Sturdy, not expensive, Their biggest issue is they are notoriously hard to mount and remove tires on. Using thin rim tape helps.

The cheap RhynoLite wheel sets are usually machine built and should be throughly checked for proper spoke tension and true for longest life. If the wheels use Shimano hubs they also need to be properly readjusted before first use and then maintained regularly.
